Laser Teeth Whitening in Tbilisi

Professional whitening can lighten the colour of natural teeth and improve the look of your smile. At Dream Dental Group, in the centre of Tbilisi, we plan the procedure after assessing the teeth and gums. Together we go through the result to expect, the risk of sensitivity and the care that follows.

Laser Teeth Whitening in Tbilisi

What laser teeth whitening is

Laser whitening is a procedure done in the clinic: a whitening gel is used together with a laser system that is compatible with it. The active ingredient in the gel is what changes the colour; the doctor controls how long it is applied and how the procedure goes. Whitening changes the colour of the tooth and does not require the tooth to be drilled.

Who professional whitening suits

Whitening can be considered if the colour of your natural teeth bothers you and you want a brighter smile. A change in colour can be linked to:

  • frequent coffee, tea and other dark drinks;
  • tobacco;
  • the natural darkening of teeth with age.

Not every kind of discolouration responds to whitening in the same way. At the consultation we look for the likely cause and whether the method matches what you expect. Fillings, veneers and crowns do not whiten the way natural teeth do.

Stages of teeth whitening

Consultation and a check of the teeth

We assess the starting colour, existing restorations and sensitivity. If there is decay or inflamed gums, that treatment is planned first. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, cosmetic whitening is usually postponed.

Preparation and professional hygiene

Before whitening we assess whether plaque and tartar need to be removed. Professional hygiene takes off surface deposits and some staining, while whitening lightens the colour of the tooth. The doctor sets the order of the procedures from the condition of your mouth.

Protecting the gums and applying the gel

The gums are protected with a barrier, the whitening gel is applied and the protocol of the chosen system is followed. How long the gel works, and how many cycles are used, depends on the product and how the teeth respond. Tell the doctor straight away if anything feels uncomfortable during the procedure.

Assessing the result and managing sensitivity

Afterwards we assess the change in colour and give you care instructions. If needed, we use products that reduce sensitivity. Sensitivity is usually temporary; if the pain is strong or does not ease, contact the clinic.

How long teeth whitening takes

As a guide, one session is about 45–60 minutes.

The time depends on the system used, the condition of the teeth and sensitivity. Treatment beforehand, or professional hygiene, can take extra time and a separate visit. In some cases another plan is needed to reach the colour you want.

The price of laser teeth whitening

The price is from 650 GEL.

The final cost is confirmed at a free consultation, after the diagnostics that are needed and once the treatment plan is set. We go through what the whitening price includes and whether extra hygiene or treatment is needed. Bank and in-house instalment plans are available on the applicable terms.

Whitening at Dream Dental Group

  • The teeth and gums assessed before the procedure.
  • The expected change in colour and the cost discussed in advance.
  • The procedure and any sensitivity kept under control.
  • Individual care advice so the result lasts.

How to look after your teeth after whitening

Follow the doctor’s instructions for the system that was used and for your sensitivity. Brush with a fluoride toothpaste and clean between the teeth every day. Frequent coffee, tea and tobacco encourage new staining over time. Regular hygiene and check-ups help the result last.

Frequently asked questions

Does whitening damage tooth enamel

For safety, the teeth need to be assessed beforehand and the system’s instructions followed. The procedure does not require drilling, though temporary sensitivity or gum irritation is possible. The doctor chooses the method individually.

How many shades whiter will the teeth be

How much lighter the teeth become is individual. It depends on the starting colour, its cause and how the teeth respond. As a rule the change is at least 3–4 shades, but we discuss the result to expect at the consultation and assess the change after the procedure.

How long does the whitening result last

The effect of whitening is not permanent. The result may last 9–18 months or longer, but that is not a guaranteed term. How long it lasts depends on hygiene, diet and tobacco. The doctor decides individually whether and when a repeat procedure is needed.

Can the result be seen in one visit

A change in colour is often visible after a single session, though reaching the result you want sometimes takes more time.

Do fillings, veneers and crowns whiten

Whitening acts on natural teeth and does not change the colour of restorations in the same way. If there are fillings, veneers or crowns on the front teeth, we discuss a possible difference in colour beforehand.

What is the difference between a cleaning and whitening

A cleaning removes plaque, tartar and surface staining. Whitening lightens the colour of the tooth with a whitening agent. Sometimes professional hygiene alone improves how the smile looks.

Is laser whitening the same as lamp whitening

A laser and an LED lamp are different light sources. Whitening done with a lamp is not automatically laser whitening; the name of the method should match the device that is used.
