Ceramic Veneers E-max in Tbilisi

What a dental veneer is

A veneer is a thin shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change how it looks. A ceramic veneer is made individually, taking the tooth’s shape, the chosen colour and the bite into account. The aim is a better-looking smile while keeping as much of the tooth as possible.

When veneers are used

Ceramic veneers can be considered for:

  • a change in tooth colour, when whitening does not give the result you want;
  • small spaces between the teeth;
  • uneven shape, length or edges;
  • small chips, or edges worn down over time.

Before veneers are chosen, the doctor checks the health of the teeth and gums. If there is decay or gum disease, that is treated first. When teeth have moved a lot, or the bite is off, another approach may suit you better, including orthodontic treatment.

How ceramic veneers are made

Consultation and digital smile design

We assess the teeth, the bite and the teeth that show when you smile. With photographs and a digital design we look at colour, shape and length. The digital model is there so you can picture the planned changes; the final result depends on what is clinically possible and on the material that is chosen.

Preparing the tooth

How much of the tooth is prepared is decided individually, from where the tooth sits, its current colour and the shape that is planned. The aim is to keep healthy tissue. Removing enamel cannot be undone, so the decision comes after we have talked through the expected benefit and the possible risks.

Making and fitting the veneers

Individual ceramic veneers are made from an impression or a digital scan. Before they are bonded we check the colour, the shape and how they sit on the tooth. After the final fit we check the bite and give you instructions for looking after them.

How long treatment takes

As a guide, 3–5 visits and about 10–15 days.

The exact schedule depends on how many veneers are needed, how they are made and whether treatment is needed beforehand. If decay, gum problems or the bite have to be dealt with first, the time and the number of visits can increase.

The price of ceramic veneers

The starting price is from 700 GEL.

The final cost depends on how many veneers you need, the material and whether the teeth have to be prepared. At the consultation we go through the treatment plan, the total cost and which services are included in the starting price. Bank and in-house instalment plans are available on the applicable terms.

Looking after veneers

Veneers last longer with daily cleaning, professional hygiene and regular dental check-ups. Brush with a soft brush and a fluoride toothpaste, and clean between the teeth. Do not open packaging with your teeth, and avoid biting hard objects. If you clench or grind, the doctor will assess whether a protective guard or further care is needed.

Frequently asked questions

How many veneers do I need

The number is individual. It depends on which teeth need to change, which teeth show when you smile and the result you want. Sometimes correcting one tooth is enough; sometimes several veneers are needed. The number is set during diagnosis and smile planning.

Does a veneer damage the tooth

A veneer often needs some of the enamel to be prepared, and that cannot be undone. Sensitivity can increase, and over time a veneer may need repair or replacement. The health of the tooth depends on the right indication, how the treatment is carried out and the care that follows.

Can veneers be done without drilling the tooth

Bonding a veneer to a tooth that has not been prepared is considered only in selected cases. A small amount of preparation is often still needed so the tooth does not become too bulky and the veneer fits properly. The doctor chooses the method from the tooth’s shape, its position and the change you want.

How long does a ceramic veneer last

With proper care veneers can last about 10–15 years or longer. That is not a guaranteed term: how long they last depends on hygiene, the bite, the load and teeth grinding. Periodic check-ups are there so problems are found early.

Does a ceramic veneer change colour

Ceramic resists staining, though over time deposits and discolouration can appear on the surface or near the edges. Daily cleaning and professional care help the veneer keep its look.

How is a veneer different from a crown

A veneer mainly covers the front of the tooth and is used to improve how it looks. A crown covers the whole visible part of the tooth and is often used to restore a tooth that is badly damaged. The choice depends on the condition of the tooth and the treatment it needs.
